Another trip

As with life, not all of the events that unfold are pleasurable. Last week we took the Inkwell to NC to be with my sister and her kids. Her husband had passed away and it was a shock on many levels.

The Inkwell pulled well and provided a good place for Paul and I and not impose upon my sister's household.

My folks were there with their RV, the Inkwell is a third the size but we still love our little trailer. For that matter, so did a couple of my nieces and nephews.

In Indiana

Hi all,

We've been in Indiana for five days now. We are staying at a KOA called Metro Louisville. Okay, so Louisville is in KY and it's on the other side of the Ohio river but what's a state between locations? It's a pleasant enough place to stay if you're not wanting to "camp" we're in a week long conference in Louisville so it works very well for our purposes.

This is the first trip the Inkwell has taken out of FL and we're very pleased with how well it towed over such a long distance.

There aren't any pictures to share of camping but there are many geocaches in the area. When we have some free time we go geocaching. You can check out what that is from GeoCaching.com

We stopped one night in GA on our way up and that KOA was great. We'll be staying there another night on our return trip. We're hoping to arrive early enough to actually relax and enjoy the campground. I'll keep you posted.

Bummed

This weekend we would have gone camping for our 35th anniversary. However, we recently moved and our dog, Corky has been having some adjustment issues. In other words, peeing in the house. Soooo, we purchased a carpet cleaner instead of celebrating our anniversary camping. Oh well, Corky does give us a lot of joy but he is an overly sensitive dog. He comes by it from both breeds he comes from.

As for the Inkwell it's being used every weekend as a spare bedroom for our daughter and son-in-law. We are planning a couple of long trips though. In May we'll be going to Louisville, KY. for a week. In June we'll be going to Austin, TX.

I'm still hoping we can camp in April for a few days. But I've got to tell you, right now, camping in Florida is perfect weather. So, if you're inclined to come south and camp, March is definitely a good month for it.

Manatee Springs

We just came back from our first camping trip in '09. We had a wonderful time with old and new friends from our tearjerkers Florida chapter.

Below is a few photos from our gathering.

A Manatee in the Swanee River. There were two and it took a while waiting for one to come up for air.

Here's our Inkwell.

John & Rose from Indiana joined us.

Jimmy & Peggy who were joined by Peggy's sister and family.

Steve & Kim Cox's Gypsy Caravan the hit of the gathering. Steve did a good job.

Michelle's Powder Puff, naturally they brought their puppies with them. And of course the one with a broken leg had a pink cast on her paw.

Cajun Lady Becca was there with her friend Fran

Hector, Wanda & Max with their brand new trailer

MaryAnn was there and served doughnuts Sat. morning, unfortunately Paul and I overslept after teaching Becca & Fran the card game Hand & Foot Friday night.

This is a shot looking up the springs.

Here's a group shot at the end of our pot-luck dinner on Sat. night.

As you can tell we had a great time. We're looking forward to our next camping trip. Hopefully in March.

Hi all,

It's the end of Jan. The new president was sworn in today and in spite of the cold I'm thinking of camping again. Paul and I will be going in a month to Manatee Springs. But in the meantime the Inkwell is housing our daughter and her husband every weekend. Our son in law is in the process of training for a new job. Unfortunately for his family, the training is in GA. Our daughter and their daughters our working and attending school 9 hours away. So, on the weekends they meet up with their dad at our house. I'm glad the Inkwell is so comfortable.

Fall & Spring Florida Camping

Well, summer is over, it's September and Paul and I are hoping to get some time in with the Inkwell. Summer in Florida is just too difficult of a time to go camping. One reason is the heat, the other is my husband's job at the church. While we're busy in the Fall and Spring it is easier to get in some camping.

So, I'm looking for great places to stay in Florida. If you have any suggestions by all means let me hear them.

Itchatucknee Springs

We spent one night at Oleno State Park not too far from the Itchatucknee Springs. You can't camp at Itchatucknee but you can tube down the river. We had a wonderful time and the water was a beautiful 72 degrees. The air temp was 100 so the 72 was wonderful.
Here's a pic of one of our granddaughters floating down the Springs.

Here's a pic of the pool at the northern end of the park. We tubed from midway which I think was all the girls could handle at one time. Later in the day we went back to the park and enjoyed this very cold but very refreshing pool.

Before the summer is over, Paul and I hope to go tubing again with our other grandchildren. I don't think we'll camp that trip but you never know.

We're looking forward to the fall when we can go camping again.
